Listen to the River
True story, I came from the womb Holding up my back and neck; Tiny little hands curled into fists, I wanted it to be over As a child and teen, music played So loud my ears felt they would bleed; Balled fists over ears, I wanted it to be over In college, I couldn’t dance So many eyes, people, stares; Lonely fist pumping in the air, I wanted it to be over Even born strong, the river of life is stronger The rapids shattered all; Splashing fist full of pills—desperate for air, I wanted it to be over … Wait … what’s this rhythm in the current? Makes me want to wiggle; Loosened fingers snap to the beat, Maybe I’ll listen a little longer

I Escaped Three Days Ago
My life was at the edge of the rapids With the grizzly who let me stay So long as I didn’t whimper too loudly When it roared its fury at me Until the bear looked hungry And a rescue crew came Shouting that I had to jump Into the cyclone that day I jumped and grabbed At rocks, vines, and branches Slicing my hands To the meat and the bone Do you want to live? Then you have to let go Let your body dash Against the stone Let your hands mend Keep your head above water And just fucking breathe

UPDATE All Deviations Are Opted Out of AI Datasets
UPDATE: We heard the community feedback, and now all deviations are automatically labeled as NOT authorized for use in AI datasets. AI generators were trained using datasets collected from the open web. This includes content from creator platforms like DeviantArt, Pinterest, Twitter, and more. This was done without DeviantArt's permission and without your permission. To help prevent your work from being used by third party AI datasets without your consent, we implemented a flag to tell AI datasets not to use your art. All deviations on the platform are not authorized for inclusion in third-party datasets used to train artificial-intelligence models — unless you choose to opt in. DeviantArt has introduced the noai and noimageai directives to unambiguously communicate absence of such authorization. When an artist declares that their content may not be used as input to AI models, an HTML tag with the noimageai directive is placed on the page and an HTTP header with the noai directive

Create AI-Generated Art Fairly with DreamUp
Introducing DreamUp™, an image-generation tool powered by your prompts that allows you to visualize most anything you can DreamUp! DeviantArt DreamUp lets you create AI-art knowing that creators and their work are treated fairly. UPDATE: We heard the community feedback, and now all deviations are automatically labeled as NOT authorized for use in AI datasets. IMPORTANT: DeviantArt did not, does not, and will not use deviations submitted to DeviantArt to add to third-party AI models or training sets, or on DreamUp itself. DeviantArt did not consent to third-party technology usage of images on our site, which were used to train AI models. In an effort to combat future unauthorized usage, we have enacted “noai” — an industry-first directive alerting AI models of deviants' desires to opt out. DeviantArt is the only platform giving creators the ability to tell third-party AI datasets and models whether or not their content can be used for training. This is a protection for creators to
Original Post: Hey, guys I just wanted to post this that there is a lot of misinformation swirling around about the DA update. It doesn't work how the update reads and I recommend going and reading their twitter. I heard there is an amended update coming. This isn't me telling you not to be upset but to just be clear that before you depart make sure that you understand what the update actually means. The wording made it seem like it iterates off your art when it doesn't. I also want to say that if you guys delete art you are deleting the timestamp that you are the original creator. https://twitter.com/DeviantArt https://twitter.com/DeviantArt/status/1591176847379030018 https://twitter.com/DeviantArt/status/1591142001638277121 I am not leaving. Update 1: This journal has gotten a lot of traction and shares since yesterday. Thank you everyone who has read, shared, and found this helpful. I am flattered. DA updated the policy to auto opt-out everyone. Which is great. I am
There has recently been a surge in the popularity of AI art—that is, art generated by artificial intelligence, using machine learning. This has led to conversation and debate among the greater art community about AI art’s authenticity as an art form, as well as the potential benefits and drawbacks to its use. This journal will detail some of the basics of AI art, how it works, and some of the arguments for and against its usage, with the intent of generating community discussion on the topic. What is AI Art? The term “AI art” (also called image generation) refers to artwork created with the assistance of artificial intelligence or machine learning tools. Computer-generated artwork has existed since the mid-1900s, with artists pioneering ways to use computers to create artwork. In recent years, AI art has become more popular, with computer-generated artwork being sold at auction, and in the past few months in particular, there has been a surge in interest because a number of AI art
Due to the rising art plague- I meant NFT thieves and bots, and opensea making it harder each day to report copyright infringement and remove the thousands of stolen art being used as NFTs on their site, I have decided to put the entirety of my dA gallery in storage and I will not post any new artwork here, until the theft has calmed down. Wether this lasts for three weeks or a year. I will keep posting art on other places where, while I know the risk is still there, they are much less targetted than DA galleries. I strictly refuse to have my art used as NFT, and any of my artwork posted on those minting sites is being used illegally. I will keep posting art on my Twitter, where I am the most active, and also Buzzly: https://twitter.com/seasaltshrimp https://buzzly.art/~SeaSaltShrimp And I will also leave a few useful posts: - https://twitter.com/NFTtheft/status/1471640210588852227 - https://twitter.com/NFTtheft/status/1473014026208788493 -

Nothing Matters You Know
Oh how you pitiable humans long for meaning where there is none. You believe yourselves unique in a universe so vast and uncaring that it's almost pitiable. Even now, when your world is on the brink of disaster once again, you refuse to look beyond yourselves and wonder what is truly important. Are your lives worth living? Do they hold some purpose? No. And they never did to begin with. This is the terrible reality of creation you know. A slow, depressing decline into eventual entropy. Always believing that more can be done. Always fooling ourselves. I learned it, a long, long time ago. You'll learn it too, eventually. You'll see the stars go out one by one until the night skies are blank. Your rivers will run dry and your sky will turn blood red. And no gods will hear your prayers. If at one point they did then they've stopped long ago once they realized what a lost cause you lot were. I pity you. I do. There was a time I had some hope for you all. Hope that your kind would be different. Hope that your kind would see the grander picture. But no. Once more the story plays out as it always has. Once again the species refuses to look beyond its own needs and desire for self importance. You refuse to accept the universe as it is and chain your understanding of it with numbers and limits. You try and piece together a puzzle where the pieces do not fit, jamming them in until at long last they make some semblance of sense and logic. But it is all a lie. One cannot make sense of what does not exist. And no matter how well you dress it up, no matter how hard you seek to deny it or refute it. A lie shall always remain a lie. Only know is it a lie believed by billions. A virus, with no hope for a cure save for the eventual entropy of the species. It is sad, seeing you all die out. It gets lonely here, beyond your perception. There are so few of us left, but you hardly realize this. You never stopped to wonder if something was watching you? Throughout all your lives? I have been with you, every step of your life. Every breath you take, every fall you've had. I've been there, watching to see how it would change you. How it would change everyone. Perhaps it was a waste of time, placing some semblance of faith that remained within me in you and your kind. But as I said, it's grown quite lonely here. Where is here? It doesn't matter. Nothing matters. Nothing has ever mattered. And eventually, you won't matter. Nothing can stop your decline now. I surely won't. No, I'll just watch as I always have. Until the last of your pitiable species passes and a new one takes shape. Perhaps they'll understand what you did not. That in the search of meaning you find only ruin. This universe owes us nothing, so it is nothing we shall take. Nothing is what we are and it is nothing to which we will all return.
